Popular Places to Run IN Lancaster
Enola Low Grade Trail
This is a popular spot for long runs and soft surface options. The Enola Low Grade is a 29 mile rail trail (the longest in the county) that crosses the southern portion of Lancaster County. This trail follows an abandoned right-of-way of the old Atglen and Susquehanna Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The trail itself is extremely flat with on a 1% slope and several spots that have Porta Potty access (always important to us long run guys). Popular spots to park include Sigman Rd, Red Hill Rd/Marticville Rd, Quarryville, and Turkey Hill. Several large trestle bridges break up the monotony of a long straight trail. Recommendation is to start out running east (slightly uphill) and enjoy the negative split on the back half of your run.
F&M College Track
Our spot for workouts on Tuesday nights, starting at around 5:30/6:00pm. You’ll find us in the parking lot after with a cold one, or heading over to the Fridge right down the road for pizza, sandwiches, and a few more beers.
Clayton Road Loops
A popular place for tempo runs with a 1 mile loop and 1.5 mile loop through a low traffic neighborhood. Many strong Strava segments in this area provide you with some extra motivation to finish that tempo strong. You can also jump off onto the grass in the neighboring Baker Field.
